History - New Bethel Church
The New Bethel Baptist Church was built in late 1916. It is located seven miles southwest
of Jesup. The church service was held in a single room auditorium with the pastor ministering
once a month. After several years, the service was expanded to twice a month. Currently,
services are held weekly by a full-time minister.
Through the years, the church has added Sunday School rooms, installed a baptistry and
carpet, purchased new pews, and has installed a new central heating and air-conditioning
system. In addition, a kitchen and social hall were constructed with new equipment.
New stained-glass windows were also installed in the sanctuary.
