Odum Lions Club
The Odum Lions Club has provided much dedication and support to the Odum
community for years. The club was reorganized in 1976 and is one of the many clubs in
over 175 countries and geographic areas that constitute Lions Club International. The
Odum Lions Club's members reach out in service to others.
The major emphasis of Lionism is sight conservation and diabetes prevention. The local
club contributes to the support of the Georgia Lions Lighthouse and the Georgia Lions
Camp for the Blind located at Laura Walker State Park near Waycross. Eyeglasses are
also purchased for needy persons. Used glasses are collected to aid needy persons in
developing countries.
The Odum Club sells brooms made by the blind and operates the concession for the
recreation program in Odum; proceeds are used for various service projects in the
community and state.
Whenever there is a death in the community, the club provides ice, soft drinks,
and coffee for the family. In the past, the club has served hundreds of families. They
also contribute thousands of dollars to various causes yearly.
